Experience: I started working as a consulting engineer shortly after completing my graduate studies in Metallurgical Engineering. Materials investigations for local industrial clients and failure analysis projects for litigation forensics support yielded relationships with clients who demonstrated a need for expertise in the complimentary field of nondestructive evaluation. My interests expanded to include teaching NDE training courses in the corporate and university environments, administering NDE certification examinations, and developing my own nondestructive testing capabilities. These competences result in frequent collaboration with other engineering consultants to supplement their proficiencies.
Education & Certifications: My credentials include BS and MS degrees in metallurgical engineering, professional engineering licensure by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, American Society for Nondestructive Testing Level III NDE certifications, and over three decades of practical experience as a metallurgical engineer and NDE practitioner for various aerospace companies, including Lockheed, AlliedSignal and Honeywell. My ASNT and NAS410 Level III NDE certifications comprise the liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic and ultrasonic methods. Other NDE experience includes acoustic emission, shearography, electromagnetic testing and x-ray fluorescence analysis, frequently referred to as “positive materials identification”. I stay abreast of current developments in these fields via my professional affiliations with ASM International and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing.
